Three words: Quality, value & performance. At Coastal Source, we simply don’t accept compromise. Our fixtures are designed from scratch with quality, value, and performance always in mind.
Quality: We want all of our products to be of the highest quality, durability, and reliability so that you don’t have to deal with constant service visits or repeat replacements year after year. We pay attention to the details that others miss, and that matters.
Value: Value is different from price and we are big believers in always delivering value to you as the end user of our products. Our products are not inexpensive, but we believe that paying for high quality, well engineered systems up front will offer a better experience with lower ownership cost than inferior systems. Our products have a very high value proposition.
Performance: We are obsessed with performance. If you have had a demo of our products, we hope this was apparent. We are constantly striving to develop the highest performance products on the market. Whether our all brass, LED-based Niche Lights or our powerful 10.0 3-Way Ellipse Bollards, we don’t think anything else out there comes close to the performance of Coastal Source products.
While our products were originally built specifically with coastal estates in mind, we have found that the outdoor environment is harsh regardless of whether you live on the coast or not! Our products and systems are not only built to Defy the Elements but also to offer superior performance over their entire lifetime. Whether your property is subject to salty air, acid rain, extreme temperatures, or even fertilizers, Coastal Source products will continue to perform.
The number one point of failure in every electrical system is the connection. Coastal Source has solved this issue with our patented Plug+Play™ cabling system. Our Coastal Connectors and Coastal Mini Connectors allow for quick, repeatable, and incredibly strong connections that are fully weatherproof. These connectors are a part of every light, speaker, amplifier, transformer, and cable we sell. It’s the backbone of our system.
Our CC and CMC cables also utilize marine-grade tinned wire. Like the wiring you would find on a luxury yacht, this tinned wire is specifically designed to weather moisture, heat, and abusive environments – like your yard. By using Coastal Connectors and marine-grade tinned wire, Coastal Source systems will Defy the Elements for years and years.
Coastal Sources has hundreds of products to create custom solutions for your needs and to fit a variety of budgets. We have systems meeting a wide range of prices, but our products are not inexpensive. We believe that paying for high quality, well engineered systems up front will offer a better experience with lower ownership cost than inferior systems that require constant service and replacement year after year.

You may have noticed that our speakers are larger than many other outdoor speakers on the market. This is because size directly corresponds to performance. The increased size of our speakers allows for more internal volume and larger driver area, increasing efficiency, fidelity, and frequency response. Our speakers in many cases are designed to be buried, significantly reducing their visual footprint, yet delivering unmatched performance.
The short answer is no, but the idea of wireless speakers is a bit of a misnomer. All speakers will need a “wire” at some point, whether for signal or for power – even wireless speakers need a wire to charge! Our speakers are designed with the highest performance in mind, and as such are connected to a high-performance amplifier using our Coastal Connector cables. This provides the highest levels of performance and reliability, while allowing the source to be whatever is the best fit for your own use. Most systems then utilize a wireless control system (like Sonos) to play music wireless to the hardwired speakers.
At Coastal Source, we simply don’t accept compromise. Our fixtures are designed from scratch to look great and perform for a lifetime. Our lighting fixtures are solid brass from the tip of the stake to the top of the fixture, feature our Coastal Mini Connector for bulletproof connections, and utilize the latest in efficient low-voltage LED technology. Our products are also designed as a system from the transformer to the cabling to the very last fixture. We want to ensure that water and other contaminants have no entry point at any point in a system.
Our most popular finish by far is our Vintage Brass finish, which is a dark, brushed brown color that blends into most outdoor environments. This is an acid finish applied to pure cast brash and will naturally patina over time. (See below for info on patina.) Many of our fixtures are available in other finishes such as Nickel, White, Anodized Clear, and Anodized Black. Click here for more information on our available finishes.
Patina is the change in an object’s surface resulting from natural aging. Patina highlights the modeling of brass and enhances its beauty. Since Coastal Source outdoor lighting fixtures are made of solid brass you can expect your fixtures to naturally patina over time. The Statue of Liberty gets her beautiful green color from the natural patina formed on her copper surface.
The best thing to do is let nature take its course. Some companies offer powder-coated fixtures to combat the effects of weathering, but these types of finishes will inevitably fail, thus exposing the cast aluminum and even steel components that will eventually oxidize, rust and fall apart. Many companies offer fixtures with a combination of copper and brass, but dissimilar metals will result in the phenomenon known as galvanic corrosion in which more noble metals attack and corrode less noble ones. Coastal Source solid brass fixtures were designed to weather the elements with little to no maintenance so you can spend more time enjoying your lights rather than replacing them.
Coastal Source products are designed to Defy the Elements and live a long life outdoors. But things happen, and sometimes failures occur that require a warranty claim. In these situations, the original installer of the project is always the best contact for the homeowner for replacements, add-ons, and service. If the original installer is unknown or otherwise not available, we can put you in touch with the local rep firm in your area to connect you with a new authorized CS Pro.
